Now that Christmas is over, we all can expect that our incoming mail will transition from Christmas cards to year-end tax forms. Thankfully, you are not obligated to hang them on your fridge during family gatherings you might have during the year. However, we do suggest you hold on to them in a 2018 Tax folder to prepare for the upcoming tax season. To help speed up the process, make sure you collect all the necessary documents before you begin filing your tax return. These include year-end W-2 forms, 1099 forms from banks and other payers, 1095-A forms from the Marketplace, and your 2017 tax return. Make sure that all these forms are completed, updated, and accurate to avoid any delays.
We wish you good luck in 2019! And if you have questions about tax returns or any other accounting needs, be sure to visit us at Stapley Accounting, your tax and QuickBooks professionals.
