If you have found yourself in the situation that you owe money to the IRS for taxes, you do have some options to get it paid. You can pay by sending a check, but you can also pay with IRS Direct Pay, or by debit or credit card.

If none of these options work for you, you can apply online for a payment plan.

To find out how much you owe, you can view your balance and payment history.

All of these are available at IRS.gov/payments.

And remember that the IRS will never call you and demand money without first sending a notice by mail and giving time to respond to the notice. Fraudsters try to make you feel nervous or scared so you will pay them immediately. Protect yourself and don’t fall for these schemes.
