One of my favorite TV and movie tropes is when one party interrogates the leader of an opposing party for the password of some priceless treasure or powerful weapon, and the leader reveals a password that is not only simple, but silly or downright insecure, such as “1234” or “password”. We know that when it comes to important items, such as financial data, it is important that passwords should be strong and secure.
Because QuickBooks is linked to your online banking, it is especially important to have a strong password. One hacked system can lead to a plethora of problems. Recommendations for a good password include: a minimum of 8 characters, both upper and lowercase letters, a mix of numbers and letters, and at least 1 special character (e.g. @ # % etc.). It is also recommended that you should change your password once a year or when there are signs of malware on your device, when there is evidence of an unauthorized login, or when there are other indications of security incidents. To change your QuickBooks password on QuickBooks Online, go to the Your Account tab and click Change Password. For QuickBooks Desktop, go to the Company tab, Users, and then Change Password.
